Contract Management using the RIAI Blue Form of Contract

Contract Management Intermediate 00:46:16 Apr 01, 2021 0
Building Construction Management Construction Projects Contract Disputes Contract Negotiations Ireland

Learning Outcome

Aimed at Building Contractors and Sub-contractors in Ireland that are required to use the blue form of contract issued by the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI), and agreed with the Construction Industry Federation and the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland.

This tutorial steps through each section of the blue form used in most private-sector construction projects in Ireland, and explains what is required for that section in simple, practical terms.

It helps Main Building Contractors and Sub-contractors to manage the commercial side of their relationship with Architects and Engineers overseeing their work. More specifically, the training will help Building Contractors and Sub-contractors to:

  1. Understand their rights under the blue form of contract;
  2. Minimise the risk of disputes and non-payment, by outlining the options available to them in handling the typical issues that arise on construction projects, e.g., pertaining to variations, approvals, managing relationships, stopping works, payment terms and sub-contractors;
  3. Engage as they should as equals with Architects and Engineers on Construction projects.
