Guaranteed Healthy Supplier Development Programme - Grains & Cereals

Overview

Background

The Health Stores Ireland (HSI) network is commencing a supplier development and product innovation programme called Guaranteed Healthy. This programme is being developed by the HSI Network from a number of recent factors including but not limited to:

- A desire to develop and grow the network's range of own brand products

- Supply chain risk that has arisen following Brexit

- A desire to work with new, emerging and existing suppliers to continue to offer the best, healthiest products to our discerning customer base across the island of Ireland. 

Project Description

The supplier development programme will be seeking new and emerging product lines on a rotational basis across our main category lines.

The programme will work as follows:

a) This application process will operate via the Sluamor marketplace - it is open to anyone.

b) Selected applicants will be invited to engage in a development dialogue. This will comprise samplings / reviews and the development of a supply programme that suits their production capacity and the network's capacity to absorb product volume. 

Products that are successful in obtaining a listing will go onto an initial listing in a subset of the network for testing, trialling. After this period, the selected products will be available to the wider network on demand. 

Prospective suppliers can elect to propose options for the Health Stores Select (our own brand range) and/or their own brand.

Business Requirements

The suppliers must be able to provide evidence that they are robust and capable of scaling to meet the requirements of this contract. While HSI are keen to work with Irish suppliers, the suppliers must be able to meet delivery requirements. Evidence of this will be sought as part of any agreement. 

Suppliers will be expected to assist the promotion of the listing. While HSI will feature selected products prominently in the pilot stores and promote them, we are seeking to develop collaborative relationships - there is codependency here so producers that are skilled at promoting footfall into HSI stores that help their product to sell, stand, logically to do best from this programme.

Prospective producers should raise all queries through this portal and we will ensure all clarifications are issued back to all suppliers interested in this programme. 

Key Risks, Constraints & Dependencies

It is expected that suppliers meet all food safety, packaging and related standards and requirements - evidence will be sought for this. 

Suppliers will be expected to be able to drop ship product to stores directly. This should be priced into the unit price proposed. 

The value of the contract included here is an estimate of 20 unit sales per store per week at €3.50 per unit across 30 stores over 12 weeks. It is included here for guidance purposes only so prospective suppliers can realistically gauge and scale product for pricing purposes.
