The aim of this group purchasing scheme is to assist scheme members with securing the lowest price energy schemes available. This scheme will open on a regular basis to admit new members that meet the requirements of this group scheme. The objective of the scheme is to allow private sector companies and not for profit organisations pool their energy consumption to maximise value for money from providers of energy brokerage (procurement) and energy management solutions. Separate tenders will be run for these two services once the group has been initiated.
Currently, energy prices are spiralling upwards and volatility is forecast well into 2022. The current forecast is that month to month spot pricing is all that will be offered to companies until the end of Q1 2022 or start of Q2 2022. This could go beyond this period.
The aim of this consortium is build a pool of companies interested in buying as a collective so that they can maximise the attractiveness of their collective spend when longer term contract pricing becomes available.
Separately to this, there are methods to reduce expenditure on HVAC systems (up to 60% of energy spend in larger buildings) and other high energy consumption items. These will form part of what is specifically sought in short-term to help lower energy costs for scheme members.
A business / not for profit expressing interest needs to be willing to share their energy bills with appointed providers and work with the other members to agree a structure to govern this group purchasing scheme.
No significant risks present. This is a cost saving exercise that is based on entities opting into the structure.
